Project: Theatre and performing arts provision review

Our commission was to enable the Council to look at the following theatre and performing arts options:

Option 1: To continue the use of the theatres as theatres and to put each building into an acceptable state of repair.

Option 2: To explore the maximum redevelopment potential of each site based on the continuation of the theatre function.

Option 3: To close the theatres and seek maximum redevelopment potential.

Through consultation we established community and stakeholder and strategic need.

Our research provided background intelligence which helped us assess the current market on the Island and mainland for the theatre and performing arts requirement identified during the consultation.

Our associates Archial and Savills costed the refurbishment and redevelopment potential. We developed detailed revenue financial plans for each option.

Outcome:

Our detailed review recommended considerable change i.e. rationalisation and refurbishment of assets and significant changes to working policies and practices. The recommendations are now being fully implemented.
