Browns Cafe Review

Fri 29th Jan 2010

Browns Café and Golf Club occupies a prime position on the sea front at Sandown in the Isle of Wight. It currently trades approximately 7 hours a day from 10am to 5pm offering a range of hot and cold snacks and beverages. Over recent years trade has declined.

The Council wished to assess the best options for improving the financial performance of this element of their catering services portfolio.

In conjunction with New Horizon Consulting, Foodworks were asked to propose a process through which the Council can identify the strategic options for this business and make an informed decision that can improve its financial viability.

From the information gathered we developed 5 strategic options for the Council to consider. For each option we have provided the following:

The business option 'vision'

The rationale behind that vision.

A physical sketch/layout illustration of that vision.

A capital expenditure estimate for that layout.

A product offer outline for that vision.

A supply chain recommendation to support the offer.

A financial business case.

We recommended our preferred option and our reasoning for it. The Council accepted our recommendation and are progressing it.
